Lexware Office/sevDesk + profit tracking: comparing two tools cleanly (2026)
Compare a separate accounting and analytics stack with an integrated solution using current plans, data handovers and your tax advisor workflow.
In short: for sevDesk and Lexware Office, check the currently booked plan and functional scope directly with the vendor. If you use profit analytics alongside, record real subscription costs, data handovers, maintenance effort and the coordination with your tax advisor. An integrated solution can bundle parts of this workflow but does not automatically replace every specialised function.
What sevDesk and Lexoffice do well (and what not)
In the vendor's current documentation, check in particular:
- Invoices, credit notes and dunning in the booked plan.
- Receipt capture and expense management.
- VAT and DATEV functions and their approval process.
- Bank connection, payment reconciliation, limits and extra costs.
For profit analytics, regardless of the accounting system, check:
- which costs flow into profit per order,
- how COGS, shipping, fees and returns are maintained,
- which advertising and shop data are actually connected,
- how missing or estimated data are made visible.
Recording the costs of the stack in a traceable way
- Subscriptions: use the current invoices and consider plan-dependent extra costs.
- Data reconciliation: document which metric comes from which system and how deviations are resolved.
- Master data: record which products, prices and costs are maintained more than once.
- Tax advisor workflow: check export, review and correction loops per period.
- Time: measure the actual effort for maintenance and reconciliation instead of estimating it flatly.
Several systems are not automatically a problem. But define which system is authoritative for orders, payments, costs, taxes and bookings and how deviations are handled.
When the double stack still makes sense
If your tax advisor workflow is established and data handovers work in a controlled way, a separate stack can remain sensible. A switch only pays off if the measured benefits justify the migration and review costs.
The integrated alternative
NorthProfit uses connected order, cost and fee data for profit reports as well as DATEV account review, OSS reports and invoicing functions. Results must be reviewed depending on data coverage; NorthProfit takes over neither the direct DATEV transfer nor OSS filing. The current plans are Starter €49, Growth €99, Pro €249 and Scale €499 per month, each with a 14-day trial and no setup fee.
Do not set “€49 vs. €20” against each other but “one tool for analytics + accounting” against “accounting subscription + analytics subscription + the time to reconcile both”. Only then are you comparing apples with apples.
