Taxdoo alternative after 30.04.2026: separating OSS, DATEV and profit cleanly

Taxdoo discontinued its VAT services and the DATEV add-on on 30.04.2026. Here is how to redistribute filing, data preparation and profit analysis, and how to classify what NorthProfit takes over and what it does not.

Updated: 8 minIron Saleh — Founder, NorthProfit

In short: on 4 December 2025 Taxdoo announced that it would discontinue its VAT services and the DATEV add-on on 30.04.2026 and focus on its accounting solution TAXDOO Accounting. For registrations, ongoing filings, OSS and Intrastat, Taxdoo names the provider Marosa as a partner. If you switch, assign filing, data preparation and profit analysis separately. NorthProfit supports profit analysis, OSS reports and DATEV account review; the tool does not file an OSS return and does not take over a tax review.

Before switching providers

Check the service and contract status of your previous provider in your customer account and in its official communication. Back up historical data and reports, and agree with your tax advisor from which cut-off date which system serves as the data basis.

NorthProfit does not do the filing

NorthProfit does not submit an OSS return to the BZSt and does not take over local VAT registrations. The VAT advance return is only available as a draft for review; there is no ELSTER submission. The report is a working basis for you and your tax advisor to review; this article is not tax advice.

Separating three responsibilities cleanly

  • Filing: submission to the BZSt and, where applicable, local registrations by you, your tax advisor or a specialised service provider.
  • Data preparation: capture sales, refunds, delivery countries and tax cases completely and review them per period.
  • Profit analysis: evaluate revenue, COGS, fees, advertising and other costs with clearly stated data coverage.

Who takes over the filing now?

For OSS returns, local registrations and filings you need either your tax firm or a specialised service provider after the exit, such as the partner Marosa named by Taxdoo or another provider for VAT compliance. Compare country coverage, data import from your shops and marketplaces, and the handover to your accounting before you decide.

Documented NorthProfit scope

  • OSS report from the existing order and refund data; no filing.
  • DATEV account and format review as a working basis; currently no DATEV file export and no direct transfer to DATEV.
  • Profit analysis depending on connected data sources and maintained costs.
  • The integrations page shows the connections available for your account.
  • TikTok Shop is available for shops in Germany; where a value is missing it shows “unknown”, never 0.

NorthProfit can complement profit and data preparation. Whether you also need a filing service provider or tax advisor depends on your tax setup.

How the move works

  1. Export historical data from the previous system and clarify retention duties with your tax advisor.
  2. Keep using an existing Shopify installation or connect an available shop. Publication in the Shopify App Store is still pending; new merchants cannot currently install through the App Store.
  3. Reconcile a closed period: orders, refunds, delivery countries, taxes and payouts.
  4. Have your tax advisor review DATEV account assignment and the OSS report before they are used.
  5. Document the filing process and the people responsible separately.
No setup fee is not a migration promise

NorthProfit currently charges no setup fee. The scope and effort of a provider switch must still be checked against your data sources, history and tax processes.

Frequently asked questions

Until when did Taxdoo offer its VAT services?
According to the Taxdoo blog of 04.12.2025 the VAT services and the DATEV add-on were discontinued on 30.04.2026. Details on your contract are in Taxdoo's communication to you.
Does NorthProfit replace an OSS filing service provider?
No. NorthProfit prepares OSS data and DATEV account reviews but does not submit an OSS return and does not take over local VAT registrations or tax advice.
What should I check before switching providers?
Check contract status, data export, history, the people responsible for filing and a defined test period. Have your tax advisor review the OSS report and DATEV account assignment before use.
Is the provider switch automatically included?
NorthProfit currently charges no setup fee. That is, however, no promise of a complete data migration or an OSS filing; scope and effort depend on the respective account and data sources.
