Bank reconciliation: importing a statement and matching payments
Upload your bank statement as CSV, review the suggested matches and confirm the assignment to open invoices.
Instead of ticking off every payment by hand, you import your bank statement as CSV, and NorthProfit suggests matching open invoices. You review and confirm every assignment yourself.
How it works:
- Export the statement as CSV from your bank (works with any German bank: Sparkasse, Volksbank, N26, DKB, comdirect …).
- Open Finance & taxes (“Finanzen & Steuern”) → Bank and upload the CSV.
- You see a preview: how many bookings were recognised and how many suggested matches there are.
- Click “Import”.
- For every booking with a suggestion you check the match and click “Assign”, which books the payment against the invoice (as in the open-item match). Bookings without a reference you click “Ignore”.
How is it matched?
NorthProfit compares incoming payments with open invoices by payment reference (invoice number), amount and date. Reliable matches are suggested, but you confirm each one yourself so nothing is booked wrongly.
What does NOT happen automatically?
- Outgoing payments (debits) are not automatically assigned to invoices.
- Nothing is booked without your confirmation.
NorthProfit offers no live bank connection. The import supports CSV; CAMT.053 and MT940 are currently not supported.
