Trial, plan & payment route: how billing works

Trial:

NorthProfit starts with a 14-day free trial without a credit card. During the active trial the functions up to Scale are unlocked; the shop capacity follows the plan chosen. At the end you choose a plan under Settings → Subscription (“Abo”); your data and settings are kept. What exactly happens after expiry is in the article “Managing the trial”.

Two payment routes, depending on how you are connected:

• Shopify merchants with an existing installation: billing runs through Shopify (managed pricing). You choose the plan on a page hosted by Shopify and the amount appears on your normal Shopify invoice; no additional credit card needed.
• Everyone else (e.g. WooCommerce, Shopware, own shop): payment by credit card or SEPA through the secure Stripe checkout.

Which route is active for your account is shown by the “Payment route” card under Settings → Subscription (“Abo”).

Changing plan:

Also under Settings → Subscription (“Abo”). Upgrades are unlocked after confirmation, downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period; details in the article “Choosing or changing a plan”.

Cancelling & managing payment details:

• Cancellation: Settings → Subscription (“Abo”) → “Cancel subscription (account remains)”. Your account keeps running until the end of the paid term.
• Stripe customers manage payment method and invoices through “Open Stripe customer portal”.
• Shopify customers manage the subscription in their Shopify admin.

Discount codes:

You enter codes from promotions or emails in the Stripe checkout, or you open the promotion link, which applies the code in the checkout automatically. The pricing page has no field for codes. For billing through Shopify, the subscription and price run through Shopify (managed pricing); NorthProfit discount codes do not apply there.
